Estes Update

Okay, so we have not done a very good job of keeping up with our Blog. Hopefully we will do a better job in the future. A lot has happened since Josh's last posting. We welcomed the newest member of our family (McKinley Raye) April 29th, 2009. She graced us with her presences at 4:17am. She was 6 pounds 5 ounces & 18 1/2 inches long. If you have not heard the story, this pregnancy & delivery was definitely a labor of love. With Caed, I had a perfect pregnancy & delivery. I did not have any problems the whole time & when I went into labor I got my epidural early on & did not feel a thing. Well that is not what happened this time. My little lady was a bit more difficult on me. During the pregnancy, I had morning sickness, swelling, & not to mention contractions for about the last month. I had 2 false alarms, so when I finally was in labor we were not sure if the hospital was going to keep us or not. When I went into the hospital I was 3 cm & I had been having consistent contractions for 3 hrs. I was at the hospital for almost 3 hrs. with no change. Then in the final hr. I jumped from 3cm to 5 cm & they said I was staying & most importantly I could have my epidural. Side note - I got my epidural with Caed when I was 3 cm. So I was in pain this time!!! While waiting to get my epidural I had a huge contraction & felt like I needed to push & then my water broke. The nurse checked me & I was about to deliver!!! There was no time for my precious epidural, I was having her al natural! Needless to say it was the most pain I have ever experienced. I highly recommend the epidural! But now that all is said & done we have a beautiful baby girl!

Happy Thanksgiving 2008

Currently Listening To: David Crowder Band

Well i know it's been a while. Sorry.

David Crowder will be @ our church January 9. We can't wait!!!!! It'll be awesome.

Anyways......

Life has been a little hectic. Angie is now 18 weeks pregnant. Caed can't wait for Santa. I have been working. Our small group just adopted a family for Christmas which we do every year.

Angie was off this week. Must be nice. We had thursday and friday off. This was our year to be with her family for Thanksgiving. We rotate every year. We left at 4:07pm yesterday. We arrived at 10:30pm. Traffic was HORRIBLE. It use to take about 3 1/2 to 4 hours to get to Ovilla.

We had Thanksgiving lunch and dinner with her family. Plenty of food to go around. I'm stuffed. Andrew, Caed and Noah played. Troy brought the Wii over and we all played. The boys and James made Turkey cookies. Aunt Sasa, Uncle Steven, Leah, Ang, and Caed went and fed the ducks. I was real proud of Ang, because she has a fear of ducks. Just ask her about her childhood experience. check out pics at this link.......

we are back at her parents now. Caed is watching Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. I'm about to hopefully watch the Aggies beat the Longhorns. We are playing golf sometime this weekend. I'll be lucky to break 100. I'm sure we will eat @ Hickory House sometime for breakfast. It's a little hole in the wall place and freakin' awesome. It should be on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

Pearland High school, my high-school alma matter is in the 3rd round, division 1, 5A playoffs. we play katy taylor tomorrow night. http://www.chron.com/sports/highschoolbrackets/?brYear=2008&brSport=fb&brDivision=1&brClass=6A

UMHB my College alma matter is in the 2nd round of the NCAA Division 3 playoffs. we play Wesley on saturday. http://www.d3boards.com/playoffs/footballbracket2008.pdf

No early early morning shopping the day after thanksgiving this year. we are pretty much already done. there are a couple of cheap movies and i hope they are still at the store after the chaos calms down.

Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving and eats lots of food.

Colts vs Texans - Houston 2008

Currenty Watching: I Love Money-VH1

I went to my annual 1 Houston Texans football game. For about the last few years i have only gone to the Colts Texans game. Yes, I am from Houston, but have never been a Houston NFL fan. both teams have always been in consistent for me. I became a Colts fan, especially Peyton Manning when he busted into the league in 1998.

As many of you know I collect autographs and sports memorabilia. i've collected many different things over the years. I don't do a lot of NFL but have always wanted to. Last year i tried the Colts at their hotel, and got Dungy (Sports Illustrated Commemorative Cover for SB XLI), Addai and Vinateri on my Super Bowl hat. Peyton (i had a 16x20 from the super bowl for him to sign and a authentic super bowl jersey) came in off the bus and went straight to his room and we never saw him again until the game.

So, i decided to try the hotel again this year. I got to the hotel around 2pm. They arrived shortly after 3pm. i was inside the lobby with about 4 other people. Peyton was about the 3rd person off the bus and then one of the guys i was with said, "Peyton could you sign for your fans?" he looked over at us and kind of rolled his eyes and walked over to us and signed. i was so stoked. check out this pic.

(Manning after signing my photo) (Addai) (Dungy at hotel)

I then went on to get Dallas Clark, Jeff Saturday and Tony Dungy on my hat. That was it. I was tired and came home to a wonderfully cooked meal by my wife.

Sunday i met my aunt and uncle in the Green lot to do some tailgateing before the game. i showed up in colts super bowl hat and my peyton manning super bowl jersey. the heckling began. oh well. i'm used to it and besides the texans had only beaten the colts 1 time in the last 12 tries. i was hoping this would be Peyton's break out game this season to get the colts back on track. my brother couldn't go so my friend felipe ended up coming. we sat in 114, JJ , seats 1&2. Freakin awesome seats. Felipe hada 300mm camera and has all the good pics, but this is what i took with my camera (i moved around and took some pics - our seats were in the endzone on the 1st level)

The texans blew the game, actually the backup QB Rosenfels did. Read it here.

During the game we got a call from our friend Terry with passes to the after game experience. i had my backpack in the truck with all my pens and markers. i convinced the ushers at the gate to let me come back in with my backpack. we made it down underneath the stadium to where the Colts after game reception was. there we were with all the Colts friends and family. they were all waiting to take pics, get autographs, etc....I met Anthony Gonzales, Jeff Saturday (again), Joseph Addai, Adam Vinatari, Dwight Freeney, Reggie Wayne, Gary Bracket (said no), Dominic Rhodes, and PEYTON MANNING again. i was stoked. he was in a very big hurry. i stuck my jersey out and he signed it. it didn't come out as clear as i wanted, but WHO CARES. PEYTON 2 times in 2 days. CAN't BEAT THAT. check out the pics.

(Jersey) (Saturday) (Addai) (Vinatari)

Freakin' awesome weekend. Hope you all have a great week.

Last Week

Currently Listening to: PTI podcast from today

Well last week was a long week. Here is a breakdowm. As you know from the last blog we were headed to Dallas on Monday. We arrived and went to eat @ O'Jeda's Mexican Restaraunt. It was very good. I was craving mexican food.

Tuesday i left for Waco @ 6am for work. Headed to Clifton @ 6pm and ate at Bunkhouse BBQ. Also very good. Spent night in Clifton.

Wednesday worked in Clifton at the Raney Ranch, and basically mowed all day long on the bobcat. Lot of fun. Allergys kicked in like crazy. Headed home around 5 and ate at Texas Roadhouse on the way home. Always good. We got power around 9pm on my way home. i got home at 11pm.

Thursday worked in Pearland.

Friday worked in Pearland and headed to Dallas at noon. Got there and went to a crazy Rangers Angels ball game. Ang, Caed and I went with mimi, pops, and andrew.

Saturday ate at Hickory House in Lancaster for breakfast, which is always a highlight for my trips to dallas. went to waxahatchie to pick up some stuff. went to rangers game to get some autographs and got nothing.

Sunday we came home and went grocery shopping.

PISD is still out of school for the moment.

Angie and i went to see her DR. today and confirmed SHE IS PREGNANT. Child #2 is on the way!!!!!!

Hurricane IKE

Currently Listening to: VH1 TOP 100 songs of the 90s.

We live in Pearland, about 15 miles SW of Houston. We boarded up the windows, which was a new experience for me. they were not straight but the windows were covered. angie had gottten plenty of food and supplies. i had gas and a generator from work. thursday at noon PISD decided to close Pearland schools for Friday. we decided at work to close at 12 on Thursday after securing everything at work.

well ike came and went. it really hit us around midnight friday. we lost power right about that time. the 3 of us slept in the closet that night. we woke up and found the following damage. Here are a couple of pics.

We finally needed to get out of the house and check out the damage. my parents who live 1.5 miles from us had leakining in the roofs of the garage and house. my dad and i covered them up with 3 tarps. they had some down trees and shingles flown off the roof. i checked out my boss' house, his mom's, and some others. lots of trees and wood fences were down everywhere.

saturday night was the worst. no breeze, and 100% humidty. just nasty weather to try and sleep in. i ran the generator a couple times a day to conserve gas. i kept waking up every hour checking on Caed, who was the biggest trooper of us all. he did a great job.

our friends Melissa and Talon got power back yesterday morning. so we grilled some chicked and pork chops and had dinner over there. it was nice. then the cold front came in last night and it got really cold, but felt great for sleeping.

this mornig i went to work (2.5 miles from home) and we decided to work out of town since we did not have power. 1/2 the crew is headed to baton rouge, the other 1/2 to waco and clifton. hopefully when we come back there will be power. i would say 90% of pearland is without power. who knows how long it will take. PISD is closed through Wednesday as of right now, which that decision came yesterday a about 3pm.

we are on the way to Ovilla. i am leavng from there in the morning to meet the crew in Waco.

lots of damages to business' on 45N in houston. saw a lines of truckers with generators heading to Houston on 45S along with A TON of AT&T trucks.

finally found some food in huntsville @ Mcdonalds. they were very nice and helpful to all.

All in all we survived. We were prepared. WE have GREAT FRIENDS and FAMILY and all helped out each other and will continue to do so until all the messed is cleaned up. Thanks to each and everyone who has helped and prayed for us and who will continue to.

Hello!

Currently Listening to: David Ramirez - Birmingham EP (www.myspace.com/davidramirez)

Well we thought we'd give this blog thing a shot. Basically we'll be sharing what's going on in our lives and just random thoughts we have about life.

There is a lot going on. School for Angie is in full swing. Our fiscal year at work ends October 31. Caed is Caed. He's 3. Not much more needs to be said about that. Adam, my little brother just turned 30 yesterday.

So I've had these weird freak little accidents that have happened to me in my life. When working at Wal-Mart back in high school i was walking by in receiving and caught my arm on a pallet that was wrapped with wire straps. It cut my arm and I had to get stitches. In college I was bit my a spider and had a allergic reaction and my eye swelled up like Will Smith in "Hitch." I was playing intramural football and deflected a pass in the end zone and when I landed on the ground I landed like a cat on all 4s. When I got to the sideline people noticed I was bleeding. I had ripped the webbing between my fingers. I also had ended up at another time with fever blisters all in my mouth.

Then last week at work I was cleaning the Dingo ("the dingo ate your baby") with the power washer. I went to asjust the nozzle while holding the handle, my hand slipped and it the trigger and 3200psi went into my left index finger ripping the skin off. No stiches and no permanent damage.

It's just weird.
